He serves as Board Treasurer. Joe believes SCU’s impeccable member service and their ability to provide competitive products is what members admire most. AJ Hawley (Associate Director)

AJ joined the SCU Board in 2024 as an Associate Director. AJ serves as the Workplace Technology Manager at Sentry Insurance, where he has been a part of the organization since March 2000. His connection to Sentry runs deep—both of his parents worked for the company, and he has fond memories of visiting the Sentry Credit Union as a child. This early exposure instilled in him a lasting appreciation for the importance of financial responsibility and community service.

His passion for financial education and community involvement is long standing. Serving the community as both a firefighter and EMT on two different fire departments, he holds a strong belief in helping others. He is passionate about the Sentry Credit Union, not only because it has been part of his life since childhood, but because he believes in the critical role it plays for its members. From opening his first savings account as a child with Christmas money to helping his wife and himself finance their first car, the Credit Union has been a constant source of support. He looks forward to contributing his experience and passion to help the Credit Union continue to serve its members with the same care and dedication it has shown him.

Paul Willfahrt (Associate Director)

Paul joined the SCU Board in 2024 as an Associate Director. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration, double majoring in Finance and Business Economics, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honors from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. His focus after graduation was to help people reach their financial goals, starting his professional career with Edward Jones as a financial advisor earning his Accredited Asset Management SpecialistTM designation, Series 7, 66, and State Life and Health insurance licenses. This enabled him to help many families with their financial life plans. From there he had the opportunity to come work at Sentry in the 401(k) department, assisting with retirement plan sales he earned his Qualified 401(k) AdministratorTM designation. Additionally, he passed all three examinations required for the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation, and He is a current CFA® charterholder. This past January marked his five-year anniversary with Sentry.

He is interested in becoming a Director on the SCU board for a few reasons. For starters, He has a passion for personal finance and believes financial literacy is supremely important. Having a solid bedrock of financial fundamentals can be the difference maker when it comes to financial success, and he believes banking with a Credit Union is step one in establishing that foundation. As a Credit Union whose purpose is serving its members, Sentry Credit Union has a direct positive impact on its members, helping them achieve their financial goals in a way other financial institutions cannot. He wants to help be part of that positive impact. He has a personal stake in seeing our community thrive and prosper. Overseeing the continued success of SCU ensures that the Credit Union will continue to have a positive impact on its members and our local community. He has gained valuable experience serving as an Associate Director for the past year and a half, and he looks forward to taking the next step as he continues his service to Sentry Credit Union.
